To support the activities of our Software Engineering Team in our office in Gilching near Munich, we are currently seeking to employ a highly motivated and enthusiastic Software Engineer. The tasks include design, develop and test software and will focus on the Galileo Ground Segment L3 software maintenance for Galileo Control Segment (GCS) sub-systems and Galileo Mission Segment (GMS) sub-systems.
What you´ll do
• Upgrade and maintenance of our in-house development and testing environments
• Software problem analysis and resolution, including root cause identification
• Participate in anomaly resolution boards and supporting activities
• Change request analysis and implementation
• Code coverage analysis, acceptance testing and system validation
• Bug fixing and implementation of new functionality on request
• Support product assurance and configuration management activities
• Coordination with Level 2 (L2) maintenance team and other stakeholders
• Maintenance release preparation following the Galileo Software Standard for Ground (GSWS-G)
• Opportunity to collaborate with cross-functional teams on other software development projects, including opportunities in full-stack development
What we are looking for
• University degree in a relevant discipline
• Proficiency in Java, other programming languages (e.g. Python, C++, Fortran) are a plus
• Hands-on experience with build tools (e.g. Maven, Gradle)
• Familiarity with issue tracking and project management tools (e.g., Jira, Easy Redmine)
• Experience in software configuration management (e.g., Git, SVN)
• Experience with application deployment and scripting in Linux environments desirable
• System-minded problem solver with strong teamwork and communication skills
• Fluency in English (spoken and written)
Assets that will set you apart:
• Experience setting up and maintaining software development environments and virtualization infrastructure, particularly using VMWare and Linux environments
• Exposure to CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices
